A casa a reabilitar, inicialmente de dois pisos, revelou a necessidade de expansão para atender às exigências, especialmente em termos de iluminação. Um pátio exterior foi criado, transformando parte da casa antiga voltada ao quadrante norte. Isso permitiu a abertura de vãos no piso inferior, criando um ambiente mais íntimo e fresco no verão. As aberturas foram estrategicamente planeadas para equilibrar a exposição solar e o controlo térmico, considerando a localização geográfica. Uma pérgula metálica com cobertura vegetal controla o sobreaquecimento na sala, proporcionando sombra no verão e luz no outono/inverno.
No piso superior, as pequenas aberturas a sul e voltadas para o pátio garantem eficiência térmica sem prejudicar a entrada de luz natural. Uma excepção é a suíte, onde uma grande janela voltada para noroeste oferece uma vista da paisagem verde. O espaço polivalente no mesmo piso, utilizado como biblioteca e escritório, recebe iluminação natural pontual, criando um ambiente propício para a reflexão e concentração. A materialidade busca harmonia com fachadas de acabamento único, excepto o pátio, mantido com a aparência de ruína, e as cantarias pré-existentes, preservando a memória do local.
The house to be rehabilitated, initially with two floors, revealed the need for expansion to meet the requirements, especially in terms of lighting. An exterior courtyard was created, transforming part of the old house facing the north quadrant. This allowed for the opening of openings on the lower floor, creating a more intimate and cool environment in the summer. Openings were strategically planned to balance solar exposure and thermal control, considering the geographical location. A metal pergola with vegetative cover controls overheating in the room, providing shade in the summer and light in the fall/winter.
On the upper floor, small openings to the south and facing the courtyard ensure thermal efficiency without compromising the entry of natural light. An exception is the suite, where a large northwest-facing window offers a view of the green landscape. The versatile space on the same floor, used as a library and office, receives punctual natural lighting, creating an environment conducive to reflection and concentration. The materiality seeks harmony with facades of a single finish, except for the courtyard, kept in the appearance of ruins, and the pre-existing stone elements in the house, preserving the memory of the location.
